We Shall Not Die Now (2019)

Directed by Ashton Gleckman

Produced by Miriam Sternlicht, Samantha Maynard, and Bernard Hiller

We Shall Not Die Now was filmed at various historical landmarks and death camps in Poland, as well as in more than twelve states within the United States (U.S). Director and founder of Blackbird Pictures, Ashton Gleckman, personally filmed over 25 interviews with survivors, liberators, scholars, and more. Ashton spent over a decade studying the Holocaust before making the film and researched extensively at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, as well as speaking to scholars and survivors of the Holocaust.

Interviews featured in We Shall Not Die Now included the world’s preeminent scholar of the Holocaust, Dr. Michael Berenbaum (Director, Sigi Ziering Institute), Cantor Moshe Taube (#22 on Schindler’s List), Jack Betteil (survivor of six concentration camps), Auschwitz survivors Frank Grunwald and Ben Lesser, Ben Ferencz (the last living prosecutor of the Nuremberg Trials), and Ben Cooper (one of the last living liberators of the Nazi concentration camps).

We Shall Not Die Now incorporates a collection of archival footage, photographs, and interviews captured during the making of Claude Lanzmann’s seminal documentary, SHOAH, which was filmed over the span of eleven years in the 1970s and 1980s.

Our goal of We Shall Not Die Now was to create a platform for Holocaust survivors and historians to share stories and lessons of peace, tolerance, and the dangers of hate.
